The Business Case for Conversions at the FPSO World Congress

In light of the low oil prices, the business case for a conversion vis-á-vis a new build will be one of the key issues discussed at the FPSO World Congress on 29-30 September in Singapore this year. Providing an unprecedented presentation, Charles Sim, General Manager for Offshore Production at Keppel Shipyard will present the case for FPSO conversions in an industry that has been plagued by constant project delays and cost overruns.

Going to back to basics and ensuring that projects can be delivered on time and on budget will be the key driver at the Congress this year, with various keynote presentations including Premier Oil, Tullow Oil, Yinson Production, Teekay Petrojarl, SBM Offshore taking the stage to brainstorm on how the industry can work and must work together to ‘weather the storm’.

Chairing the Congress will be Duncan Peace, Managing Director of Crondall Energy, whose main role would be to facilitate these discussions and search for answers to the one question on everyone’s mind at the moment: How can the FPSO sector streamline their processes to deliver timely projects and restore investor confidence in the sector?

In a market that has been hit badly by the drop in the price of oil, the FPSO World Congress continues to remain the leading global platform for oil companies, FPSO contractors, shipyards and solution providers to come together. ‘Having looked at our current delegates attending, we quickly realised that our end user clientele have continued to participate this year, with oil companies and FPSO contractors including Shell, Total, Premier Oil, Tullow Oil, Woodside Energy, SBM Offshore, BW Offshore, Modec, Teekay Petrojarl, Yinson Production, Bumi Armada and more all confirming their attendance. This reinforces the ability and the faith that our clients have in our Congress to deliver an invaluable platform and obtain critical market intelligence, debate issues and network in these difficult times’, commented Joshua Lim, the Congress Director for the show.

Set to deliver over 650 delegates and 75 exhibitors, the 16th FPSO World Congress remains the world’s largest meeting point for the FPSO community, covering every aspect of the FPSO lifecycle through four separate streams over two days.
