Chanaka is a Partner in HFW’s Energy & Resources Group. He joined HFW (London) in 2002 and has been permanently based in HFW (Singapore) since 2005. He is a qualified English lawyer and Singapore lawyer specialising in upstream oil and gas sector contractor work and has twenty years experience advising a range of contractors in construction, exploration and production. He has advised on contract negotiation and dispute management in respect of multiple Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) and Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) projects over the years. His experience includes advising on risk management and contract negotiation / drafting for various FPSO projects to include contracts dealing with: charter / lease, O&M, design, conversion/newbuild, module fabrication, vendor subcontracts for various equipment, framework agreements, logistics and tow. He has also extensive experience of advising and handling large scale international arbitrations for FPSO/FSO owners and various other upstream contractors. He is a member of HFW's International Arbitration Group and also acts both as an arbitrator and mediator.
