Philip Smedley

UEC Floating Systems Engineer and Structures Advisor BP

Philip Smedley works for BP as an Advisor for Structures and as a Principal Floating Systems Engineer. In these roles, Philip has been involved in the structural hull, mooring and riser systems on several new build projects and the integrity management of existing offshore assets.

In addition, Philip drives several joint-stakeholder standardisation activities including:

  1. Chair of the Internal Standards Organisation Technical Committee 67 which is responsible for 215 ISO oil and gas standards.
  2. Chair of UK committee for supporting oil and gas standards.
  3. Deputy Chair of the International Oil & Gas Producers Task Force to create common operator specifications for offshore structures.
