John is currently the Director HSE of TechnipFMC in Asia Pacific based in the region’s headquarters’ in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has over 40 years of solid industry experience covering all facets of work from onshore, offshore, subsea, manufacturing, heavy commercial and operations.
John was recruited by Technip in Malaysia in 2005 as the Project HSE manager for a large offshore project, and on successfully completing this project, managed other large onshore and offshore projects within the organization. Prior to being appointed Director HSE of TechnipFMC, in 2018 prior to merger of Technip and FMC John was VP, QHSES Asia Pacific of Technip
John’s career in QHSES started in 1989 when he was recruited to manage workplace health and safety and industrial relation of a large heavy commercial project.
John’s wealth of knowledge and experience in QHSES was gained over years of managing project across the globe ranging from tens of millions to mega projects worth billions of dollars.
These projects were in Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Australia, Korea, Nigeria, Malaysia and other parts of Asia, Europe and Africa working with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. He recalls one of his favourite project was in Vietnam where he was responsible and effectively managed a multicultural group of 37 nationalities, 89 contractors, across multiple facilities and yards, and a single construction site that employed over 19000 workers.
In his 30 years of experience, John had set up management systems, developed training programs, written industry standards, trained thousands of workers, offered solutions in HSE with the aim to continuously improving QHSES and the working conditions for workers and local community. His extensive skills, knowledge, experience and versatility prove John’s capabilities in implementing and delivering successful QHSES strategies.
John holds a master’s Degree in health science, Graduate Diploma in Occupational health and safety and many other qualifications in QHSES and building and construction as well as being published author.
His love of life and passion in the industry has allowed him to work effectively throughout Asia Pacific, UK, Africa and other remote and beautiful places, giving him precious life skills that could only be gained through personal experience and an open mind and heart.
