An Overview of the Lessons Learned from FPSO Operations Industrywide for Future Standard and Novel FPSO Concepts

Add bookmark

Floating Production Systems with Oil Storage capacity (FPSO, FPS) are operating successfully throughout the world over the last 3 decades. As many of these systems have started approaching or exceeding their design life, the shortcomings started becoming apparent as a result of the rules & standards used in the design and operating & maintenance philosophies of these systems which were adopted based on the past ship’s & tanker’s experiences.
The discussion presented in this paper collates various lessons learned from industry
wide projects with the objective of improving the reliability of these systems in view of the prolonged service requirements without dry docking. It also aims to evaluate how the noble storage concepts available ould be adopted to meet required offshore safety,
optimized maintenance and service life by the operating companies.
