Without doubt, 2014 was a landmark year for the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) story. The largest hull ever constructed by man, Shell’s mammoth Prelude, floated out of dry dock in Geoje, South Korea in December 2013 and began its journey towards Australia.

As the 488-metre long facility began to make its way towards its permanent home above the Prelude and Concerto gas fields, situated in the Browse Basin off Western Australia, the industry’s flagship project pointed towards the future.
